I know, crazy right? I believe it is because I’m a little bit enthusiastic about everything Mexican (enchiladas, chips, guac, tacos… etc)! It’s simply too great to refuse.
This past week though I simply had a craving for ravioli, lasagna, garlic bread or basically ANYTHING ITALIAN. Regrettably all I had formed in my own cupboard was tomato sauce, but man, do that sauce look good. Like I type of wanted to consume it from the jar and contact it dinner.
Is that weird?
Yep.
I considered to myself for a very long time about what I could do using the tomato sauce. After all, besides spooning it into my mouth or just warming it up and pretending it had been tomato soup. At one stage I considered ordering breadsticks from Pizza Hut just so I could drop them in the sauce, but determined I wasn’t that desperate.
I finished up searching the fridge and found low fat ground turkey. Obviously cute small meatballs came straight to mind!
Just look at that steamy goodness!
I specifically love this formula because it only takes about 30 minutes to throw together. The bottom turkey is combined with an egg and the following spices: cumin, garlic sodium, black pepper, reddish colored pepper flakes, a pinch of cayenne, basil, oregano, plus a bit of dijon mustard. Now that may seem like a large amount of spices, nonetheless it results are drop inactive delicious!
We baked my meatballs within the oven for quarter-hour then transferred these to a skillet with tomato sauce simmering on medium-low. Then I gently spooned the sauce over the meatballs in order that they would continue steadily to soak within the flavor. It did not disappoint.
Now you can certainly use a pasta sauce of your decision (garlic, red pepper, tomato basil, or marinara), but I made a decision to work with a simple good-quality tomato sauce since I wanted to jazz it up with my own herbs like clean basil and oregano. Also, unless you need a spicy sauce after that simply leave out the red pepper flakes.
I made this dish double this week! The second time I added sliced up mushrooms towards the sauce. (You need to too!)
You men… I really love these meatballs from underneath of my heart. They’re healthful, juicy, and satisfying over a complete grain such as quinoa, pasta, or brownish rice. Comfort food makeover, right?
I believe that adding the Burrata parmesan cheese was what really made the dish particular; it melted into the tomato sauce and developed a creamy flavorful pop. Unless you have Burrata, feel free to use fresh mozzarella.
Ideally I’ve convinced you to join the meatball loving bandwagon cause I am obsessed with those small bites of heaven.
Have an excellent Labor Day weekend!

At this point you can truly add any herbs or additional elements such as for example mushrooms or crimson pepper flakes if you desire. Sauce will thicken.
Once meatballs are done cooking, add them to the skillet; spoon the tomato sauce generously on the meatballs and add the basil.
