Who Are The Sri Lanka Special Forces?

The special forces of Sri Lanka is an element with the Sri Lanka army and is also referred to as Sri Lanka Army Special Forces Regiment or SF. They are a covert operative force made up of three regiments.

The SF have been established since 1985 and were first called a Combat Tracker Team that specializing in performing small operations which were deep within enemy territory, particularly against terrorism in times of war. At that time, the group contained 2 officers and 38 men. Since then, they have got evolved, even though they are called a little, elite and covert team. They focus on various types of special forces activities.

How To Become A Member Of The SF

Those who are members from the Sri Lanka army can join the special forces when they pass the choices training, which is reputed to become pretty tough. However, the rigorous training just isn’t aimed at damaging the morale from the cadets; rather it’s designed to pin point trainees who may have the initiative and drive to actually carry out and finished the objectives of the missions regardless of how difficult and dangerous. SF Training

The training consists of basic training and specialized working out for all SF personnel. This is conducted by the Special Forces Training School, that was setup on February 15th 1992.

There are courses in the Army in addition to Navy SEALs and Air Force Courses. Those that are members with the SF still must go to a 4 weeks course yearly like a refresher to make certain that they can still live up to the standards in the SF. Anyone who fails the rigorous exams are posted out of the Special Forces.

What Are They Best At?

Their roles include counter terrorism, intelligence gathering in deep battle, sabotage and offensive raiding in deep and medium battle space, unconventional warfare including covert operations and Raaf Magazine rapid deployment.

There are five units that range in the 1st regiment towards the 5th regiment that’s recently established. They are all ready to have sharp skills and fight deep within enemy territory during times of war.

The members with the SF are professional soldiers, with a lot of of them remaining in the military for a lifelong career.
